User interface and user experience designs are two important aspects to determine the successful adoption of information systems. User centricity brings the user requirements and expectations to the centre when designing and developing the system (Shneiderman et al., 2016). This report will discuss the concept of usability, consistency and discoverability in the context of user interface design. It will discuss the core differences in user interface design and user experience design and how they significantly contribute to the successful adoption of systems. Through the report, the readers will understand how the target system for Tajevon Private Limited will look and be utilized.
Conceptual Questions
It focuses on anticipating the core requirements of the users with the system and ensuring that they have an effective interface to understand, use and facilitate the required actions. Therefore, it is a process to communicate what is more important to the users and enable the users for easier interaction with the system to accomplish their goals (Shneiderman et al., 2016). The purpose of user interface design is to simplify the interaction, enable the execution of goals, maximize usability and enhance user experience with the system.
Usability as a quality attribute determines the easiness of using the user interface. It is also considered a process to improve the easiness of the user interface when designing the system. From the user perspective, usability determines how a user can effectively use the design or system to meet the defined goals efficiently, effectively and satisfactorily (Hassenzahl, 2018). It is important in user interface design because it allows users to complete tasks accurately and easily without being distracted and confused. Also, focusing on usability improves system acceptance.
The major reason why system modification is necessary is to connect with simpler and more effective approaches to support the user for optimal operational improvement. For the proper purpose and implementation of taking user demands into consideration, it is required to process an immediate objective and direction. The user demands would offer precise requirements analysis for systems that need to be updated (Preece et al., 2015). Creating an appropriate user experience is another strategic justification for operationally developing user demands.
A good system needs both a user interface and a user experience. Compared to the user interface, the user experience is more about the user's interaction and feelings when using the system. The following are other major differences:
Consistency in the user interface approach is crucial for systems' strategic analysis and operation. This is achieved through proper development and analysis of user interface design. Discoverability is important for managing and directing structures and logical values to ensure proper user interface operation (Shneiderman et al., 2016). Both these aspects require consideration of non-functional requirements for system analysis and digital modification design.
Practical Tasks
The choice of the relevant use case structure has been made through strategic analysis, planning, and the use of the right direction and user interface design. The placing of an order for the organization by the specific consumer is the use case structure that is described here. Through this use case structure's logical development and appropriate direction, systems planning and analysis have been directed to consider the proper system sequencing. This use case structure would handle processing an essential component of the systems well.
An example of an interaction diagram that shows how things interact in a system is a sequence diagram. It displays the lifespan of such objects and the sequence in which messages are sent between them. The diagram typically consists of horizontal and vertical lines depicting the messages the objects sent and received. These illustrations aid in the visualization of intricate interactions and the detection of potential design flaws (Alvin et al., 2021). They are frequently used in software development to represent a system's behaviour and explain it to stakeholders. A useful tool for comprehending and developing complicated systems is a sequence diagram.
In the presented diagram, the customer can register on the system. Once the data is submitted, the account is on hold for confirmation. Adam or other staff can check the request and send the credentials to the customer as an acknowledgement for the account creation process. The customer must sign in to the account and check the product menu to order a product. They can add the products to the cart and connect with staff members for negotiation. Negotiation is considered when customers purchase in bulk and have a strong relationship with the business. Once the amount is confirmed, the customers can proceed with the payment and the related receipt is dispatched to the customers. Staff can print the receipt and log into a register for future reference.
The dialogue map design technique uses the visual representation of the flow of a discussion between two or more parties. It can simulate various interactions, from phone calls to customer service representatives to difficult decision-making procedures. The fundamental idea behind dialogue map design is to divide a discussion into distinct steps, with each step standing in for a particular action or reaction. Designers can then pinpoint any potential stumbling blocks or points where the dialogue might falter (Unhelkar, 2017). The discussion flow can be communicated to stakeholders via dialogue maps, which helps ensure all those participating in the process are aware of how the discussion should move forward. Anyone involved with designing or analyzing conversational interactions will find dialogue map design to be a useful tool.
Figure 1: Dialog Map
The presented dialogue map design indicates three contexts. The customer needs to register and sign in with the system during order processing. There are two possibilities, the login or registration may be successful. If unsuccessful, the customer is redirected to the login or registration page. If it is successful, a home page with a customer login will be displayed to browse the products and add them to the cart. Second, the customers may have success in checking the menu. If the menu is accessible, the customer must select a particular item for purchase. Similarly, a receipt is generated only if payment is successful.
It is crucial to create a visual representation of a website or application's layout throughout the design process, known as wireframing. This low-fidelity design depicts the fundamental composition and operation of the finished item. The purpose of wireframes is to help stakeholders and developers understand design concepts, user flows, and functionality. Instead of colour or pictures, they are frequently made with plain forms, typography, and icons. Before tackling high-fidelity designs, designers can use wireframes to concentrate on the user experience and information architecture (de Lange et al., 2019). They are a crucial component of producing user-centred, efficient designs that satisfy the user's needs.
Figure 2: Screen to browse products
The presented wireframe design indicates how the users can quickly select the count of the products. It also indicates how they can search for a product using categories in the navigation bar or the dedicated search field. Once the users have selected the products, they will be in their cart, where they can proceed with login and registration and then check out the products. Under the link 'About', there are business details and contact information so customers can connect with sales representatives for assistance.

The presented report has concluded that user interface and user experience are equally important for a system to ensure users can easily interact with the system and meet the defined goals. The report has discussed the concept of consistency and usability and how the user interface and user experience differ in meaning, purpose and approaches to the system. There is also a demonstration of the sequence diagram, use case and input screens so that technical and non-technical stakeholders of the business can understand how the data is being processed and what the final system may look like.
