What we check
Referencing is one of the easiest places to lose marks, and one of the easiest to fix.
In-text citations
Author, year and page numbers in the right format for your style, including "et al." and multiple authors.
Reference list or bibliography
Order, punctuation, italics, URLs and access dates, following your university's version of the style.
Citation-to-reference matching
Every citation has a reference entry and every entry is cited. Orphans and missing sources are listed.
Quotations and secondary sources
Quotes with page numbers, and "cited in" references used correctly.
OSCOLA footnotes for law
Cases, legislation, pinpoints, ibid and the table of authorities.
Source quality
Non-academic, outdated or unverifiable sources that may weaken your argument.
What you get back
Corrections you can apply quickly, and understand for next time.
- Every citation and reference checked, with errors highlighted
- Comments showing the correct format for each type of error
- A list of missing and orphan references
- Notes on weak or non-academic sources worth replacing
Reference list:
Smith, J. Remote work. 2020.
Capitalise the author and put the year in brackets: Bloom et al. (2015). Add a page number if you quote the figure directly.
Incomplete. Harvard needs the author, year in brackets, title in italics, place and publisher. Bloom et al. (2015) is also missing from the list.

Feedback on your work, never a replacement for it
Every check is designed to help you improve the draft you wrote, in line with UK law and your university's rules.
What we do
- Review the draft you wrote and explain our feedback in plain English
- Show where your work falls short of the brief, rubric or style guide
- Suggest how to improve, with examples and sentence frames you adapt yourself
- Respect your university's academic integrity and AI-use policies
What we don't do
- Write, rewrite or complete any part of your assessed work
- Submit work on your behalf or log in to your university systems
- Guarantee a grade or a similarity score
- Disguise AI-generated text or help bypass detection tools
Other pre-submission checks
Combine checks, or compare all five.
