Similarity & AI-Use Review

What we check

A similarity percentage on its own tells you very little. What matters is which text matches, and why.

High-match passages

Which matches are a real problem and which are fine, such as quotes, references and common phrases.

Close paraphrasing

Patchwriting that keeps the source's structure and wording, even when it is cited.

Missing citations

Ideas, data and definitions that need a reference but don't have one.

Over-quoting

Long or frequent quotations that crowd out your own analysis.

Generic, AI-style wording

Vague openers, unsupported claims and references that can't be verified, which markers often question.

Your AI-use declaration

Whether the way you used AI tools, and how you acknowledge it, fits your module's policy.

What you get back

Guidance that helps you fix the cause, not hide the symptom.

  • A plain-English explanation of your similarity report
  • Flagged passages, with why each is a problem and how to rework it in your own words
  • Citation fixes and a list of any references we could not verify
  • A checklist for your AI-use declaration, based on your university's policy
Book a Similarity Review
Example feedback (illustrative)
Organisational culture can be defined as the shared values, beliefs and assumptions that shape how members of an organisation behave. In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, culture is more important than ever.
Similarity match

This is almost word for word from a textbook definition. Either quote it with the author, year and page number, or explain it in your own words and cite the source.

Generic wording

This sentence makes a claim with no evidence. Replace it with a specific point from your own reading or data, and cite it.

How it works

Four simple steps, all on UK time.

  1. 1

    Share your files

Upload your brief, marking rubric and draft through the form or WhatsApp, and tell us your deadline.

  2. 2

    Get matched

A UK-qualified expert in your subject reviews your files and confirms the turnaround.

  3. 3

    Receive feedback

You get an annotated copy of your draft plus a prioritised list of what to fix.

  4. 4

    Revise with confidence

You make the changes yourself. Questions about the feedback? Ask your expert.

Who it helps most

  • Students with a high similarity score on a draft
  • Students unsure what their AI policy allows
  • Students who used AI for ideas or grammar and need to declare it
  • International students working on paraphrasing
  • Dissertation students before final submission
Academic integrity

Feedback on your work, never a replacement for it

Every check is designed to help you improve the draft you wrote, in line with UK law and your university's rules.

What we do

  • Review the draft you wrote and explain our feedback in plain English
  • Show where your work falls short of the brief, rubric or style guide
  • Suggest how to improve, with examples and sentence frames you adapt yourself
  • Respect your university's academic integrity and AI-use policies

What we don't do

  • Write, rewrite or complete any part of your assessed work
  • Submit work on your behalf or log in to your university systems
  • Guarantee a grade or a similarity score
  • Disguise AI-generated text or help bypass detection tools

Similarity & AI-Use Review: frequently asked questions

Will this review lower my Turnitin score?

We do not promise any score. The aim is correct attribution: quoting and citing properly and putting ideas in your own words. Scores often fall as a result, but integrity is the goal, not the number.

Do you run my work through Turnitin?

No. We review the similarity report you receive from your university's draft submission, if your university allows one, and explain what it shows. We do not submit your work to Turnitin.

Do you "humanise" AI-written assignments?

No. We do not rewrite or disguise AI-generated text. If parts of your draft were generated by AI in a way your module does not allow, we will tell you, and recommend you write those parts yourself or speak to your tutor.

Can AI detectors be wrong?

Yes. AI detection tools can produce false positives, and many UK universities say a detector score alone is not proof of misconduct. Keep your notes, drafts and version history so you can show how your work developed.

Am I allowed to use AI tools at university?

It depends on your university and module. Many UK universities allow some uses, such as brainstorming or grammar checks, if you acknowledge them, and ban others. Check your module handbook; we can help you understand what your policy means for your draft.

What similarity percentage is acceptable?

There is no universal threshold. A high score made of correctly quoted and referenced material can be fine, while a low score can hide a serious paraphrasing problem. What matters is what matches and why.
