Deloitte is a global provider of assurance and audit, financial advisory, management consulting, tax and legal. It has presence in more than 150 countries and providing employment to approximately 330,000 people (Deloitte, 2023). In modern business environment, international organizations are having mainly three trends to ensure their sustainability and profitability. First, the trend of in-house data storage and processing is being outdated due to cloud computing. The organisation is moving toward cloud storage so that files can be accessed and processed easily by employees at various locations and software connected to storage system. Indirectly, this trend is enabling the organisation for data protection and disaster recovery. Second, data analytics is another trend helping the organisations to process volumetric information easily on cloud and ensure data-driven decisions for competitive advantages (Dempsey & Kelliher, 2018). It can help the organisation to understand the market trends and formulate the strategies accordingly. Third, security is a trend when considering increasing risk of cybersecurity threats and data-related frauds. In a comparison of in-house systems, cloud security is more reliable (AlTwaijiry, 2021).
Communication protocols allows that different network devices can communicate effectively in the network. The organisation needs to share data with customers, employees and global partners and therefore, there is need of effective protocols to ensure reliability, performance and security in communication. The organisation uses a variety of communication protocols to meet different requirements but it mainly uses transmission control protocol for connection-oriented data sharing, Profibus PA and Modbus TCP/IP protocols.
TCP/IP protocols is more preferred communication protocol in the organisation as it ensures reliability and dedicated data sharing (Goralski, 2017). Modbus TCP/IP is a vendor-neutral communication protocol that is used for monitoring and control of various automation equipment. For instance, the organisation uses the protocol as an ethernet attachment to programming logical controls. (Sunny et al., 2018) Modbus messaging structure is a protocol to define interpretation and organization of data independent of the mode used for data transmission. It is used mainly in wireless communications for improved control on devices.
This protocol stack is more important to ensure security and performance while the conventional protocols are limited to their functions and cannot assist in automation of equipment.
There are three industry trends that should be adopted by the organisation. First, Modbus TCP/IP can be used to improve monitoring and control on devices while adding additional layer of security in data sharing. It is helping the organisations for automation and enhanced security in automation process (Sunny et al., 2018). Second, TCP/IP protocol stack is required to use over the conventional open-system interface because it can enhance the security during the connection and help to control and monitor the transmission of data packets. For instance, its SSH and other protocols can enable encryption, decryption and authentication services during data sharing so that there is high security in communication (Dempsey & Kelliher, 2018). Third, Profibus PA can be used at inaccessible locations to enable better decision-making for clients in risk advisory departments. It is important to ensure security and easier data recovery (Jecht et al., 2017). It is in trend because of its contribution in remote data sharing and monitoring so that the organisation can provide more reliable decisions to the clients.
