London is considered as the home of some of the best galleries and museums in the world. London is among the most popular cities in Europe to have an extraordinary experience. It is basically a very safe city for the travellers which plan ahead to visit and experience modern attractions. There are various places in London that people can visit which include the Tower of London, London Eye, Hyde Park, and St Paul’s Cathedral, Sea Life London Aquarium, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Madame Tussauds and many more (London, 2023). I personally think that among all of these, the place which is considered the most popular in London is Soho. Soho is the green suburbs in the area of Hampstead as well as Royal parks such as Richmond Park. The city of London has lots of character and it offers incredible scenes and sights and has a bustling nightlife. The nightlife makes the city a trendy destination for tourists and it has been considered the largest metropolis city in the United Kingdom. Along with the largest metropolis, the city is the transportation, economic and cultural center of the country. London has an amazing museum and lively market in the street. The city is diverse as people from different nationalities work and lives together. I am much excited to known that the city is known as the city where streets, museums, entertainment, attractions, history, building as well as people are different, unlike other cities across the world. London is a beautiful city and it has a rich history, world-class museums, double-deckers, red phone booths, galleries, financial districts, cosmopolitan vibes and gigantic lush parks. This city is the most visited city in the world with regard to international visits.

Accessibility Issue in London

Accessibility issue in london

When the people of London have been surveyed, most of them have responded that they experience transportation issues a lot. The transport system of London is over 200 years old with the oldest tunnel that carries trains (London gov, 2016). As the population increases, the load on the system has turned much more inefficient with the maintenance becoming harder. Most of the rail section and tunnels has been made from the steam trains rather than using the current model of trains and the population is increasing. Hence, the underground gets too hot. Technology is increasing daily, it is quite difficult to be up-to-date on modern technology within a city with as the little downtime. London city has a population of around 9 million people and thousands of tourists visit the city each and every day. Tourist visits there often experience the issue of congestion. On any busy day, the passengers are sometimes found falling on tracks and they are collapsing because of sickness or they are getting to scuffle with other people. This sometimes causes delays in the entire transportation (London gov, 2022). Due to the issue of overcrowding, visitors often experience the problem and they have to wait for lots of trains to pass by so that they can find transportation in which they can barely squeeze in. Hence, the system of London Transport is considered as a constant complaint source. The roads are clogged permanently with the similar traffic speeds. The tubes are overcrowded and get hotter during summer. Also, the buses never seem to arrive until they come in threes. Also, it has been found that the pandemic of Covid-19 has made an sustained and important impact on TfL (Transport for London) finances and ridership.

Market Segment

The main issue has been identified in the transportation system of London and due to this people are not able to form strong connections to reach opportunity destinations. It is visible that almost each and every people who are dependent on public transport experiences severe issues which results in contributing to social isolation. They are prevented to obtain complete participation in certain life-improving opportunities such as vital local activities and services including learning, jobs, healthcare, leisure or food shopping due to unavailability of sufficient transport provision. Also, visitors experience immense issue like they have to wait for a long in order to travel from one place to another. The daily travellers sometimes fall sick while traveling to work due to overcrowding in the public transport. Road traffic poses worse impacts on every people from London as their life quality gets decreased due to greater exposure levels to pedestrian fatalities and casualties as well as traffic-oriented noise and air pollution, particularly within dense urban regions.

Importance to Access the Accessibility issue of Transportation

trasformation

I have found the transportation system of London to be a constantly compliant source with permanently clogged roads, overcrowded Tubes, and traffic speeds. In London, regularly people make 1.3 million journeys with various disabilities. In addition, people take 700,000 trips whose age is more than 75 years. Furthermore, passengers make 1.5 million journeys by individuals carrying small children and five million journeys by obtaining heavy luggage. So, I think it is important to access this transportation accessibility problem. Easily accessing this transportation network is therefore also a right of almost every Londoner. I find mobility and transportation play essential roles in to struggle for equal opportunity and civil rights within the disability community. Reliable and affordable transportation provides an allowance to individuals carrying disabilities access to vital opportunities in employment, education, community life, housing, and health care. Besides this, I feel that easily accessing transportation systems are important to improve inhabitants’ life quality of in London as well as carry out efficient functioning. This is because I can notice major impacts both negative and positive on places, particularly in town centers and interchanges as well as on the atmosphere in the city and other wide areas (TFL, 2023). Transportation even takes a major part to address the entire range of the Mayor's spatial planning, and priorities of social, economic, and environmental policy. In a converse way, I find reduced or poor accessibility might act as a vital constraint on places’ quality and success and their communities and neighborhoods. The individual has given commitments to enhancing the environment by motivating more sustainable transportation means, through a pedaling revolution, enhancing walking conditions, and improvement of public transport. This would also be useful to support population growth and economic development as well as enhance the security and safety of every people living in London.

Ways for Enhancing the Accessibility Problem

I believe to improve the accessibility of transportation in London in the following years; the whole transportation network needs to be innovated. First of all, I think people having disabilities and older people should be given the opportunity for accessing and using the transportation network easily. The key objective should be maximizing the people’s number who would feel confident while traveling. I feel people in London should make a major contribution to the 40 step-free London Overground and London Underground stations in the next few years. It would comprise interchanges such as Vauxhall, Finsbury Park, Bank, and Victoria. This step undertaken will provide a chance for stations of TfL for gaining step-free access. I think a wide range of stations can get potential advantages from this latest policy or partnership fund. This innovative approach can be utilized for matching contributions from property developers and local councils for making enhancements to this step-free access. This shall be carried over to a variety of certain priority locations and thereby unlock huge numbers of the latest accessible journeys. The strategic approach undertaken to integrate the development and transport of London should be a strong collaboration between the Mayor and all similar partners. I feel it would be their responsibility to motivate nodes and patterns of development that minimize the requirement to travel, particularly by car. They should also seek to enhance the accessibility and capacity of public transport, cycling, and walking, especially in the highest-demand areas.

In addition, to support development would be vital that creates high trip levels at locations acquiring high capacity and accessibility of public transport, either by giving commitments or currently. It can also be in the form of funded enhancements comprising, where suitable, those that developers provide through the utilization of specific planning obligations. Furthermore, I notice there is a necessity to improve the interchange between various transport forms, especially around potential underground and rail stations. This is specifically needed where connectivity shall be improved within outer London. I believe the key people involved shall also seek to maximize the Blue Ribbon Network’s application, such as the Thames for freight use and passenger. There is a need to facilitate freight distribution efficiently whilst reducing its impacts on the network of transportation. In addition, I suggest these people should get involved to support measures that motivate shifts for having modes that are more sustainable and which carry suitable demand management. In addition, the promotion of higher utilization of low-carbon technology should be done in order to reduce carbon dioxide as well as various other global warming contributors. The strategy should also comprise promoting and encouraging walking by making sure the urban realm is enhanced. At last, I feel the key objective should also be seeking to make sure that every part in relation to the network of public transport can be utilized with dignity, easily, and safely by every Londoner. It shall comprise by securing that availability of step-free access is there where practicable and appropriate.
